More about the book
Euripides, one of the foremost dramatists of ancient Greece, transformed the portrayal of mythical heroes by depicting them as relatable individuals facing extraordinary challenges. Born around 480 BC on Salamis Island, he had a brief athletic training urged by his father, but his true calling lay in theatre. Competing in the City Dionysia, he won first prize only five times during his lifetime. His lyrical prowess is evident in works like Medea, where his plays resonate musically. He spent his later years in Macedonia, where he was honored after his death around 406 BC.
