Set in the 7th century Arabian Peninsula, the story follows Qays, who becomes known as Majnun due to his obsessive love for his cousin Leyla. After her parents, upset by his poetic declarations, force her into marriage with another man, Qays descends into despair and retreats into the desert. Despite his father's attempts to seek divine intervention in Mecca, Qays remains unable to escape his unrelenting passion for Leyla, highlighting themes of love, honor, and the struggles against societal constraints.
