Set against the backdrop of the Zulu kingdom during Dingaan's reign, this tale revolves around a beautiful and brave white girl believed to embody the spirit of a legendary goddess. Known as Zoola, meaning Heaven, she is the daughter of a pioneer missionary whose parents were killed by Dingaan out of jealousy. After their murder, she descends into madness, cursing the Zulu nation, a curse they attribute to their subsequent misfortunes, including Dingaan's death and defeats in battle.
