More about the book
The life of Michael Drayton, a 16th-century English poet, is marked by his early struggles and subsequent literary achievements. His first work, a spiritual poem, was largely destroyed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Drayton gained recognition with his pastoral poems and historical works, including The Barons' Wars and England's Heroical Epistles. Despite his initial success at the Court of Elizabeth I, he faced ridicule under James I. His notable works include Poly-Olbion and the Ballad of Agincourt. Drayton passed away in 1631 and is commemorated in Westminster Abbey.
