More about the book

Michael Drayton, born in 1563, was a significant English poet whose early works included spiritual poems and pastoral elegies reflecting his personal love struggles. Despite facing censorship and limited success in theater, he gained recognition for his historical poems and celebrated works like "Poly-Olbion," which explored Britain's geography and history. Drayton's career flourished under Queen Elizabeth I, but he encountered challenges with King James I. His later publications included notable pieces like "The Battle of Agincourt" and "Nimphidia." He passed away in 1631 and was interred in Westminster Abbey.
