More about the book

The concerto was specifically composed by Haydn for his friend Anton Weidinger, a virtuoso trumpeter who created a special keyed trumpet, enabling a full chromatic scale. It premiered on March 28, 1800, in Vienna, featuring Weidinger as the soloist. Although Weidinger's invention was innovative, it was eventually replaced by the more efficient valve system in the 1830s. The study score provided is a reduced-size version of a newly engraved large score, prepared by Clark McAlister in 2010, with exclusive availability of the large score and orchestra parts from Serenissima.
