More about the book
Euripides, a pivotal figure in ancient Greek drama, transformed the portrayal of mythical heroes by depicting them as ordinary individuals facing extraordinary challenges. Born around 480 BC on Salamis Island, he initially trained for athletics but ultimately pursued a career in theatre, competing in the City Dionysia. Despite winning only five first prizes during his lifetime, his influence on drama is profound, with innovations that resonate in modern storytelling. His later years were spent in the court of King Archelaus of Macedon, where he died around 406 BC, leaving a lasting legacy celebrated posthumously.
