More about the book
Euripides, one of history's great dramatists, transformed Greek theatre by portraying mythical heroes as relatable individuals facing extraordinary challenges. Born around 480 BC on Salamis Island, he initially pursued athletics, influenced by his father's dreams for him. Competing in the City Dionysia, he won only five first prizes throughout his career, despite the lasting impact of his works. His lyric poetry enriched his plays, creating a musical coherence. Later in life, he found refuge in Macedon, where he was honored after his death in 406 BC, leaving a profound legacy in drama.
