More about the book
Euripides, a pivotal figure in ancient Greek drama, transformed the portrayal of mythical heroes by depicting them as relatable individuals facing extraordinary challenges. Born around 480 BC on Salamis Island, he rose to prominence in a vibrant theatrical culture, competing in the City Dionysia. Despite his innovative works, he only won first prize five times. His lyrical prowess is evident in plays like Medea, where music and poetry intertwine. Later in life, he found refuge at the court of King Archelaus of Macedon, where he was honored after his death around 406 BC.
