My name is Dolly M. Gorham. I am one of 5 children. I am the daughter of Charles Kenneth Gorham & Margaret Leah (Hawley) Gorham. Both parents were born in the early 1920's. They grew up during the depression experiencing & watching so many changes in America. Their knowledge, history, & influence are a big part of who I am.I grew up in Lancaster, Massachusetts. The town of Lancaster is rich with old architecture as it was founded in the early 1600's. The countryside where I grew up was rich in poetic history. Emily Dickinson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau & Robert Frost all walked, wrote & lived around where I grew up. My biggest influence came from Robert Frost.I feel that my poetry is plain & simple. My subjects are about basic America. I have had many people read my poetry & they urged me to compile my writing in order to publish. As they shared their thoughts after reading, I gained enough confidence to pursue this book.I am a member of the Academy of American Poets.
