Dr. David Stoner, feeling burnt out from his practice in clinical psychology, surprises his wife, Jennifer, with the announcement that he is closing his office. it is his intention is to take an extended trip to Germany where he plans to do research for writing a travel book on the subject of visiting Germany by way of castles. After finally persuading Jennifer to go along with this idea, the Stoners begin there adventure. Almost immediately upon their arrival in Germany the tranquility of their trip is disturbed by an encounter with an old adversary - a demonic spirit who has taken possession of a high official in the government - and the chase begins as Lucian Kristof seeks to prevent the doctor from discovering the diabolical scheme Lucian has to rise to supreme control and begin a world-wide terrorist effort that will cause other nations to rally to his leadership for protection and for solving global economic chaos. David and Jennifer begin a run for their lives while also trying to expose Kristof who hounds them across Europe. Their attempt to escape brings them back to the United States and to a climactic surprise ending.
