Essence of Evil is the highly anticipated sequel to Waking the Savior, the first book in the Andova Alliance series. Erin, the alliance's recognized savior, unites with Micand and the rest of the searchers to counteract two threats. An unknown disease is decimating the population of a planet on the very border of the alliance. At the same time, the evil entity which threatened the untrained savior when she was still on Earth returns to do battle and claim Erin for his own. The fight is not without consequences, and two of the searcher's ships return to the alliance with all on board unconscious or dead. Micand's ship is blown to an unknown sector of space, and both searcher and savior are injured and unable to respond. Waking the Savior has been called "one of the best developing love stories we've come across in a while" and compared to books such at The Rowan and the Crystal Singer series written by Anne McCaffrey.
