Paracelsus

    November 10, 1493 – September 24, 1541

Paracelsus was a Renaissance physician, botanist, alchemist, and astrologer who championed the use of chemicals and minerals in medicine. He challenged the prevailing humoral theory of illness, proposing instead that diseases stemmed from external agents. While his medical innovations were significant, he is most remembered today for his contributions to alchemy and his distinct magical theories, setting him apart from contemporaries like Cornelius Agrippa and Nicolas Flamel.
