Zhu Xi

    October 18, 1130 – April 23, 1200

    Zhu Xi was a leading figure of the School of Principle and the most influential Neo-Confucian philosopher in China. His work, emphasizing the investigation of things and the synthesis of all fundamental Confucian concepts, shaped Chinese bureaucracy and governance for over 700 years. Zhu Xi assigned special significance to the Four Books, which became foundational to Chinese education and thought.
