James Hudson Taylor was a British Protestant Christian missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission. He was known for his sensitivity to Chinese culture and zeal for evangelism, adopting native Chinese clothing. Under his leadership, the CIM was non-denominational, accepting members from all Protestant groups, including the working class and single women. Taylor has been recognized as one of the most significant Europeans in 19th-century China due to his campaign against the opium trade. His life's work is characterized by a wide vision and a systematized plan for evangelizing a broad geographical area, unsurpassed since the Apostle Paul.
