The study suggests leveraging technological advancements in adaptive optics to utilize a ground-based pulsed laser that could ablate debris, generating thrust for atmospheric reentry. A single laser facility could potentially clear all such debris within three years, making the proposed technology demonstration a cost-effective solution for debris removal from Earth's orbit.
