Robert Baldwin Ross

Robert Baldwin Ross was a Canadian journalist and art critic, best known as the executor of Oscar Wilde's estate, with whom he shared a lifelong friendship. His open homosexuality in an era when such acts were illegal brought him considerable hardship. Ross made significant contributions to literature as Wilde's literary executor, reading and often suggesting improvements to Wilde's texts. Though his own literary output was modest, he authored a collection of short stories and reviews titled Masques and Phases and also worked as an art critic.
