Jesse and his dad have a sudden encounter with a dog one rain-slicked night. Although he seemed to disappear into the darkness, Jesse finds clues the next morning to show that the dog circled back to their house. Why is he seeking them out? Jesse decides to search for him and finds the dog hiding at the local animal shelter, which is slated to be demolished. He leads Jesse to something buried on the grounds of the deserted shelter. This "found treasure" uncovers connections from his dad and Jesse's past that they thought were lost forever.
