The Echo: More Short Stories From The Landing
No Place Like Home: Short Stories From The Landing
    • The fictional village of The Landing is home to a lovable cast of wonderfully flawed characters. Without overmoralization, double entendre or revisionism - and with only passing regard for historical accuracy - these stories take inspiration from the people, places, history, one-liners and throwaway remarks overheard in casual settings in rural Cape Breton. Applying his own brand of pathos and humour, Mike Hunter envisions a peaceful place that fosters funny stories without being disrespectful. A native of Riverview, NB, MIKE R HUNTER has lived all over Canada, and resided in Cape Breton since 1984. A freelance editor and writer living in West Bay, Mike is working on more short fiction and a novel. He is former Editor-in-Chief at Cape Breton University Press (retired), but don't let that fool you.

No Place Like Home: Short Stories From The Landing
    • In this second collection of stories, Mike Hunter has populated the fictional village of The Landing with more characters we can count on and care about. Where No Place Like Home exposes the humourous side of life in The Landing, The Echo is a pleasing and thoughtful blend of humour and history, of passion and pain. Familiar faces live alongside new ones; all are characters who are at once familiar and refreshing. We are drawn into their memorable world of dignity and sensibility. Simple pleasures and simple lives - bullies, bears, bunnies, bagpipes and books, telephones, telegraphs and televisions. These are the artifacts of memories and stories from The Landing.
