Return to Iquitos: Suspense and Romance on the Amazon River
    • 2021

An expat American man trades up the Amazon River from the isolate jungle town of Iquitos, Peru, in an old restored trawler boat. On one trip, he falls in love with a Peruvian woman from a small nearby village, but they soon become entangled in a violent war between international drug cartels-he from the outside, and she from the inside. The man's boat is confiscated by corrupt police, and the lovers become hopelessly separated. But amid hardship and danger, they meet again in the Andes Mountains. From there, they escape down a rough Andean roadway to the rainforest foothills. They become stranded there with few resources, but their only hope is to somehow return to Iquitos-now hundreds of miles away, and accessible only by wild riverways. If they can get to Iquitos, they plan to retake his boat, either by stealth or by force, and escape from Peru down the Amazon River.
