Die Arbeit am Prometheus stellte für den Verlag Thieme ein kleines Abenteuer dar, das sich jedoch gelohnt hat. Das innovative Konzept des "LernAtlas", eine Kombination aus Lehrbuch und Atlas, wurde über acht Jahre entwickelt, wobei neue Zeichnungen erstellt wurden. Die Gestaltung basierte auf Umfragen unter Studierenden und Dozenten, mit dem Ziel, den Lernenden die Konzentration auf wesentliche Inhalte zu ermöglichen und eine fächerübergreifende Verbindung zwischen Vorklinik und Klinik zu schaffen. Jede der rund 250 Lerneinheiten widmet sich einem Thema auf einer Doppelseite, wobei das Zusammenspiel von Bild und Text hervorragend funktioniert. Die Themen sind in die vier Abschnitte "Allgemeine Anatomie", "Rumpfwand", "Obere Extremität" und "Untere Extremität" gegliedert. Über 1.200 Farbabbildungen veranschaulichen Gefäße, Nerven, Knochen, Gelenke und Muskeln, wobei Zeichnungen und bildgebende Verfahren sich ergänzen.
