Roy Thomas is a celebrated comic book writer and editor, best known for introducing the pulp magazine hero Conan the Barbarian to American comics. He expanded upon Robert E. Howard's character, significantly contributing to the creation of a popular sword and sorcery trend within the medium. Thomas is also recognized for his work championing Golden Age comic book heroes, particularly the Justice Society of America. His extensive writing contributions graced long-running series such as Marvel's X-Men and Avengers, and DC Comics' All-Star Squadron.
