As a child growing up in California E.H. Williams wondered why Uncle Roy became a kinder person around Okey. Later she learned their touching history and felt compelled to share their true story about friendship. During World War II when much of the world was falling apart, Okey and Roy showed that kindness and decency still existed. Their real-life story will inspire you! After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941, a shocking order by the U.S. government forced all people of Japanese origin from the West Coast to Relocation Camps. Everything they owned was sold at a fraction of its value or put in the care of others. Over 120,000 people spent the war in tar-papered army-style barracks even though they were American citizens. When the war was over, many of the Japanese Americans found that they had lost their homes and businesses because deceitful people stole their property. Many had to start again with nothing. Roy and Okey's story shows personal integrity, and what it means to be a real American through hard times!

It is under the control of a cabal of Earth scientists and followers of a Wicca based religious cult. In 2030 the government passed the hated Earth Laws. These restrict the eating of bovine meat, ban the internal combustion engine and severely reduce the daily hours of electricity generated by the sprawling offshore wind farms. The coastal town of Margate is a tinderbox. It is too hot; the mayor is too corrupt and too many bodies of climate refugees wash up on its beaches. The story focuses upon a young Ghanaian refugee and her role in the national rebellion against the Earth Laws.

More of a story than a collection of poetry, Love by Night will whisk you away from your world and into the dreamy romantic night. Love by Night begins with anxious hesitation and nervous attraction, grows into tender affection, blossoms into passionate love, delves deep into whimsical dreams, and finally builds an image of an idyllic future together, as the reader develops along with the two characters of this poetic story. Written as a conversation between two points of view in constant change and flux with each other, this book invites the reader into the conversation about the love that connects one person to another, but also all of us to each other. Through this written testament to the emotional journeys books can take us on, S. K. Williams breaks down stereotypes, sexism, racism, and brings awareness to mental health, grief, bullying, substance abuse, how to move forward, how to love in a healthy way, and, most of all, how to love yourself when it feels impossible.

2015 Reprint of 1923 Edition. Full Facsimile of the original edition. Not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. A practicing physician for more than 40 years, William Carlos Williams became an experimenter, innovator and revolutionary figure in American poetry. In reaction against the rigid, rhyming format of 19th-century poets, Williams, his friend Ezra Pound and other early-20th-century poets formed the core of what became known as the "Imagist" movement. Their poetry focused on verbal pictures and moments of revealed truth, rather than a structure of consecutive events or thoughts and was expressed in free verse rather than rhyme. The two most famous sections of Spring and All are poems I and XXII. The former, which opens "By the road to the contagious hospital," is commonly known by the title "Spring and All," and the latter is generally known as "The Red Wheelbarrow."

Paterson is both a place--the New Jersey city in whom the person (the poet's own life) and the public (the history of the region) are combined. Originally four books (published individually between 1946 and 1951), the structure of Paterson (in Dr. Williams' words) "follows the course of teh Passaic River" from above the great falls to its entrance into the sea. The unexpected Book Five, published in 1958, affirms the triumphant life of the imagination, in spite of age and death. This revised edition has been meticulously re-edited by Christopher MacGowan, who has supplied a wealth of notes and explanatory material.
