Un niño deformado encuentra su lugar en la vida: Bartolomé es de estatura baja como un enano, sus pies están deformados y prefiere moverse a cuatro patas. Sus padres lo prohíben, diciéndole que se comporta "como un perro". Al mudarse a Madrid, ocultan con miedo a su hijo desfigurado.
