Permanent forest, age class forest and plenter forest

Calamity prevention and CO2 sequestration through primeval forest management

More about the book

The question posed in this study is to examine which forest structure form from the available age class forest, permanent forest and plenter forest is best suited to realise a primeval forest-like management for the future. In this context, parameters play a role that focus on CO2 sequestration, as well as in the field of evolution or on utilisation possibilities. The results are partly contradictory, which can possibly be explained by the systematics of the climate calculator. Contrary to expectations, the age-class forest actually performs quite well and can provide an incentive to continue the current economy. Keywords: Renaturation, forest conversion, conversion of even-aged to uneven-aged stands, development of models, calamity savings, CO2 sequestration
