More about the book
Palo Macho (1965) is a significant representative of contemporary artistic glass, focusing on painting on glass. It merges colors with glass based on the principles of classical painting, using a glass plate and glass enamels, whose shades reveal themselves only after the melting and firing process. His paintings consist of several layers, with underpainting, inner painting, and surface painting intertwining. Every detail must be meticulously planned and verified, with the artist's gesture and touch being integral to his work. Macho's art combines mass, volume, and color, where the transparency of glass and light play a crucial role in its perception. The monograph presents his work through words and images, illuminating his principles and place in the international context. It includes a text by Meira Lubor Dohnal and an interview with the author discussing his collaborations with prominent figures in Slovak visual art, mapping his latest creations up to 2020. The book features documentation of important exhibition projects.
