More about the book

Catherine House is a unique institution nestled in rural Pennsylvania, renowned for its reformist liberal arts curriculum and selective admissions. It has produced some of the world's most influential figures, offering tuition, room, and board for three years in exchange for complete immersion in its environment, free from outside distractions. Among the new students is Ines Murillo, who hopes to escape her tumultuous past of parties and toxic relationships for a life of intellectual rigor. However, she quickly finds that the school fosters a culture of exploration and revelry, encouraged by the enigmatic director, Viktória. For Ines, Catherine feels like a home, but as she navigates its worn velvet and weathered leather, it begins to resemble a gilded prison. When tragedy strikes, she starts to suspect that the institution, with its rich history and controlled decadence, may be concealing a dangerous agenda within its close-knit community of students and their mysterious curriculum.

avoid this hot mess of a book. it's structurally so bad, the storytelling is bad. the characters, especially the protag sucks. nothing makes sense. this reads like it was written in one go without taking the time to look back and make sure that eveything came together as a coherent story
