Set in the planned Black utopia of Liberty, California, the story follows Jasmyn and King Williams as they seek a nurturing community for their family. While King quickly adapts to Liberty's focus on wellness and appearances, Jasmyn feels isolated, expecting a commitment to social justice that is absent among the residents. As she befriends others who share her concerns, they uncover a dark secret about Liberty that could unravel their lives, challenging their ideals and the very fabric of their new home.
