At the Southern tip of Ireland, the inhabitants of coastal village Baltimore are slow to rise from the dreamy euphoria of a long day of festivities. The inhabitants are suddenly wakened by the screams and splintered crashes of battle as Moorish raiders mercilessly plunder and destroy. The young and able are taken and most of those remaining are brutishly slaughtered. Among the captives, torn from the arms of her lover, bound for a far-off land and a life of slavery, is the beautiful Kirsten. Daemon swears to track her 'to the ends of the earth' and sets out to somehow discover a path that might set him on his way. Each of them is set upon an epic journey into a world beyond their imagination.
