Unaware of each other's childhood, Jannali and Laqueta are two women whose worlds become permanently intertwined. Laqueta is born into tragedy in South Africa as her mother commits suicide right after the baby's birth, and Jannali is an Australian Aboriginal who must navigate her own world of ethnic prejudice.
