In Confessions of an Australian Assimilator, author, Barnaby Growling, arrives in Australia on the 22nd of March 2021. He settles when he arrives in Rockhampton in September 2021. It is now January 2022, and his heart has yet to flutter. He is living a bit of an Australian stereotype. Those who know him best have said that if anyone deserves to be here, he does. But even if he chooses to accept the premise that he had a special capacity to run harder and faster than anybody else, in the relay race that brought him to the lucky country, he knows it would have meant nothing if all the people who assisted him hadn't put a baton in his hand to cross the finish line with.
