Ruth Aspinall loves flying an joins the Air Transport Auxiliary when war breaks. She meets and falls in love with American pilot Jack Nelson, who with war all around won't commit to a relationship. Jack has a Spitfire to deliver to France, but his plane never arrives. Ruth is heartbroken but can't believe she will never see Jack again.
