A storm propels Dorothy into a floating chicken coop, where she meets a talking hen named Billina and Tik-Tok, a clockwork man. They venture to Princess Langwidere's palace, where Dorothy is imprisoned for refusing to part with her head. Alongside Princess Ozma and her court, they embark on a quest to rescue the royal family from the Nome King. Billina uncovers the secret of identifying transformed individuals and learns about the Nome King's magical belt. The group ultimately regains control of the throne and returns to Oz.
