More about the book

In June 1941, during a low point in the war, England's RAF bombers struggle against the Luftwaffe, which dominates the skies. On a small Danish island, eighteen-year-old Harald Olufsen, a talented engineer, discovers a secret German installation with advanced machinery. Realizing the importance of his find, he knows he must inform someone, but uncertainty clouds his choices. As England prepares for a major aerial assault, Harald's discovery could change the war's trajectory, but conveying this information poses grave risks for those he loves. His older brother Arne, a grounded pilot under suspicion, and Arne's fiancée Hermia, an MI6 analyst eager to bolster the Danish resistance, are both in peril. With the assault looming, Harald and his friend Karen must find a way to communicate their critical intelligence to England. Their only option is a dilapidated Hornet Moth airplane, abandoned in a ruined church, which seems unlikely to fly. As they face pursuit from the enemy and collaborators, with minimal training and fuel, they embark on a desperate six-hundred-mile journey, carrying what may be England's only hope to avert disaster.
