More about the book
Italo Calvino, an Italian journalist and fiction writer, is renowned for works like the Our Ancestors trilogy, Cosmicomics, and novels Invisible Cities and If on a Winter's Night a Traveller. Initially commissioned by Einaudi, he curated and retold Italian folk tales, publishing them in 1956 as Fiabe italiane. This collection, now known as Italian Folktales, showcased Italy's rich oral tradition, rivaling the works of Brothers Grimm and Perrault. Calvino, who passed away in 1985, was the most translated contemporary Italian writer.
