Arthur Christopher Benson was a prominent English essayist, poet, and academic, recognized for his contributions to literature and education. Notably, he penned the lyrics to "Land of Hope and Glory." His career began at Eton before he returned to Cambridge as a Fellow and lecturer in English Literature. Rising through the ranks, he served as president and later as Master of Magdalene College until his passing in 1925. Additionally, he held a governance role at Gresham's School, influencing the next generation of scholars.
