Hubert Schmidbaur, born in 1934, began his 70-year scientific journey in 1953 by choosing chemistry. He studied at Munich's Ludwig Maximilian University and completed his PhD in sulfur labs. Later, he focused on silicon and other elements, inspiring many through his charismatic lectures and innovative research collaborations.
