Richard Brinsley Butler Sheridan was a prominent Irish playwright and satirist, celebrated for works like The Rivals and The School for Scandal. His career spanned not only the theatre, where he was a long-term owner of the London Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, but also politics, serving as a Whig MP for 32 years. Sheridan's enduring influence is reflected in the continued global performances of his plays, which are integral to the theatrical canon. He is interred at Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.
