The Neolithic of the Irish Sea

Focusing on cultural interaction during the Neolithic period, this collection of 24 papers reevaluates the Irish Sea as a significant area of prehistoric contact. While traditional studies highlight interconnections among Ireland, the Isle of Man, Anglesey, and the British mainland, recent research reveals distinct indigenous practices and cultural changes across the British Isles. The authors explore regional differences in material culture and social strategies, questioning whether shared practices existed or if the media were intrinsic to their meaning. The volume is based on a 2002 conference at the University of Manchester.
