An accomplished essayist and poet, the author was also the 28th Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge, and is best known for the lyrics of "Land of Hope and Glory." His academic career began at Eton before returning to Cambridge, where he lectured in English Literature and eventually became the college's president and later Master. His influence extended to Gresham's School as a governor, showcasing his commitment to education and literature until his passing in 1925.
