He relocates from Ohio to Minnesota with a group of followers, including nuns and families, to establish a settlement called Rush Lake. Despite creating a community, he encounters ongoing challenges with church authority. After his death, his followers secretly transport his body to Oregon for a new colony, leading to lingering controversy, particularly surrounding his burial outside a Catholic cemetery.
