Bubastis: City of the Feline Goddess

Bubastis, a pivotal city in the Nile Delta for over three millennia, served as the cult center for the lioness goddess Bastet, known later as a sacred cat. Greek historian Herodotus vividly described its temple and vibrant festivals. Despite its ruins, recent excavations have uncovered the site's former splendor, revealing significant monuments, palaces, additional temples, and unique cemeteries that enrich our understanding of ancient Egyptian archaeology.
