René François Nicolas Marie Bazin was a notable French novelist and law professor, recognized for his contributions to literature and provincial life sketches. His breakthrough work, Une Tache d'Encre, earned him acclaim and an Academy prize. A member of the Académie française, he also held the title of Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great.
