More about the book
The book challenges the prevailing belief among theologians and anthropologists that Goddess-worship has never existed, particularly in the British Isles. It argues that for most of the islands' history, a female Supreme Being, or Mother-Goddess, was the dominant form of worship. The emergence of a male deity, or Father-God, is positioned as a later development, only appearing during the Early Neolithic Age around 4,500 BCE. This perspective reexamines historical religious practices and their implications for understanding ancient societies.
