Charlotte Mary Yonge was a prolific English novelist whose works, influenced by her devotion to the Church of England and the Oxford Movement, reflect the values of Anglo-Catholicism. Beginning her writing career in 1848, she published around 100 works, with "The Heir of Redclyffe" marking her first major success. The profits from her novels supported charitable endeavors, including the operation of the schooner Southern Cross.
