Georg Moritz Ebers was a prominent German Egyptologist and novelist, renowned for discovering the Ebers Papyrus, a significant ancient medical document. He studied jurisprudence and Oriental languages, eventually becoming a professor of Egyptian language and antiquities at Jena and Leipzig. Ebers undertook two scientific expeditions to Egypt, leading to his influential work, Ägypten und die Bücher Moses, and the editing of the famed medical papyrus in 1874, solidifying his legacy in the field of Egyptology.
