Georg Moritz Ebers was a prominent German Egyptologist and novelist, renowned for discovering the Ebers Papyrus, a significant ancient medical document. He studied jurisprudence and Oriental languages, later becoming a professor of Egyptian language and antiquities at Jena and Leipzig. Ebers conducted two scientific expeditions to Egypt, contributing to the field with his major work, Ägypten und die Bücher Moses, and editing the influential Papyrus Ebers. His academic pursuits and discoveries have had a lasting impact on Egyptology.
