Over two years with the Potomac Army, he captured the war's essence with striking realism, illustrating soldiers, camps, and battle scenes. His work earned him a gold medal at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. This first volume showcases 96 illustrated pages of his art, featuring some images in color for the first time, highlighting his significant contributions to war art.
