Set in ancient Alexandria, the story revolves around Myrrhina, a noblewoman who seeks to seduce Honorius, a Christian hermit, with her beauty and wealth. Their encounter leads to a poignant exchange, resulting in Honorius choosing to return to a life of sin, while Myrrhina embarks on a spiritual journey, opting to stay in the desert and embrace religion.
