More about the book
The study explores the consumption of edible insects across 20 local government areas in five Northern Nigerian states, revealing a high preference for locusts, termites, crickets, and beetle larvae. Variations in consumption patterns were noted among different regions. The research also examined the occasions for consumption, collection methods, and economic aspects of insect sales. Proximate analysis indicated that the nutritional content of these insects is comparable to conventional meat, suggesting their potential as a sustainable protein source and advocating for commercial insect farming.
